One challenge over; another begins!

In this last blog post, I want to start by thanking all the platoon leaders. They were not only helpful to members of their own groups, but they willingly helped anyone who asked. I also want to congratulate the winners. It was hard work, and they deserve all that they won.
I would also like to share some of my thoughts about the program and look forward to what comes next: We did this program for 12 weeks. Some people were so glad when it was over. I just did not understand that attitude. Yes, it has been hard work, but it is a change of lifestyle, not a 12-week-program. At least, that was my mindset going into it. So as the 12 weeks were drawing to a close, I started to worry that without the weekly weigh-ins and the team spirit and group dynamic, I would go back to my “old” ways.
So I started another “challenge.” I decided to call it the “wardrobe challenge.” After all, since we are trying to get into a new size, we will need a new wardrobe to go with it. It seemed like a good premise, and here’s how it works: Those of us already in The Lab’s Biggest Loser (LBL) made our final weigh-in, and others who were interested but not LBL members, weighed-in with us on our final day, too. Now we are weighing-in each week and will have prizes at the end of 10 more weeks. All of us agree we’re not doing it for a prize, however; it is the habits we started to change and want to continue.
So, although LBL is over, it was the start to a new me. I ended the challenge with a loss of 31 pounds, but more importantly, I ended with an eating and exercise plan that works for me. I have now lost an additional four pounds and will continue until this new challenge is over. Then I hope we will begin another one. This is a life change that started with LBL. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity.
