    Show your Team Spirit, and win a fabulous prize! During getfit Week Two (Feb. 8–14), you can earn "team spirit" points whenever at least three members of your team participate in a fitness activity together. 

    The more team members who participate in each activity, the more points your team can earn. Note that larger teams have no advantage—all exercise minute totals will be weighted by total number of team members.

    With a decade of getfit@mit under our belts, we've learned a little about the secrets of successful teams. Here are some tips to think about when putting your team together:

    • Mix it up. Many of the most successful getfit teams of the last ten years have included a mixture of serious exercisers and beginners. Experienced exercisers in these groups told us they enjoyed taking leadership roles, and beginners appreciated the encouragement and advice from their more experienced teammates. And remember, it's all about the team average. One or two very active people on a "mixed team" can easily make up for several team members who can't quite meet the exercise goals every week.     These are tips that any member of a team can use—co-captains and team members alike!

    1. Choose a method for regular team communications—and use it!

    • Weekly in-person mini-meetings/coffee-breaks
    • Regular group emails (you can even send them through the getfit website!)
    • Regular group text messages
    • A Facebook group for your team members

    2. Use your communications method to:

    • Ask your teammates how they’re doing
    • Provide encouragement
    • Remind each other about deadlines.
    • Challenge your team members to complete a certain activity or goal
